State victorious in Southwest Royalties case.

The Texas Supreme Court ruled in favor of the state in the Southwest Royalties lawsuit that would have exempted metal pipes, tubing, and other equipment used in oil and gas extraction from sales taxes. This win for the Comptroller saved the state from refunding an estimated $4.4 billion.  To read more…

 

Texas Democrats storm San Antonio.

The Texas Democratic Party met in San Antonio last weekend, and adopted a 44 page platform to guide Democratic elected officials. Hometown sons Julian and Joaquin Castro were the keynote speakers, adding momentum to the rumor of Julian Castro being on the shortlist of possible running mates for Hillary Clinton.  To read more…
